Altitude Sickness and Prevention
During Pisang Peak Climbing, one of the major issues you can come across is altitude sickness or Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS). It can happen to anyone regardless of age and physical fitness. The main reason behind altitude sickness is your body is not acclimatized with the altitude. Also, dehydration leads to AMS.
There are a few things that you can do to avoid altitude sickness like drink plenty of water, avoid alcoholic drinks, include enough rest days in the itinerary. If you think you are getting symptoms of AMS then do inform your guide and drop down to lower elevation.
Transportation and Bag Pack
The journey begins with a drive from Kathmandu to Dharapanu. From here, you will gradually ascend towards the summit of Pisang Peak through several villages.

During Pisang Peak Climbing, you will be staying overnight in a lodge. The rooms will be pretty basic with common washrooms. From base camp, you will stay overnight in well-insulated tents.
During your stay in a lodge, food will be served as per the menu of the lodge. You can expect to get dishes like rice, curry, bread, veggies, eggs, momo, noodles, soup, tea, coffee, etc. Likewise, from base camp, the meals will be prepared and served by porters.

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu (1,300m/4,264ft)
Arrive at Kathmandu airport, where one of our team members will welcome you and take you to the hotel. The rest of the day is free for you to relax and explore around. In the evening, you will have a welcome dinner organized by the company.

Day 02: Kathmandu (1300m/4264ft): trip preparation
Today, you will prepare for the trip. Meet with your guide. He will brief you about the trip and go through the gears gradually. You will be informed about the trek and the region you will be traveling. If there will be a problem with equipment then you will do some shopping as well.

Day 03: Drive from Kathmandu to Dharapani (1,960m/6,430ft): 11-12 hours
Drive to Dharapani, the starting point of the trek. The drive will be following the Trishuli river and present you with the gorgeous scenery. On the way, you will pass by Pokhara before reaching Dharapani.

Day 04: Dharapani to Chame (2,710m/8,891ft): 5 - 6 hours
After a quick breakfast, you will trek through steep forested ridges. On the way, you will also pass by the landslide area. The trail will present you the majestic views of Lamjung Himal, Annapurna II, and Annapurna Iv. Crossing small hot spring, you will reach Chame for night stay.

Day 05: Chame to Upper Pisang (3,700m/12,136ft): 5-6hours
The trek begins with a narrow path that further goes through dense pine forests. You will come across a huge rock face rising 1,500 meters from the river. The trail then moves towards Pisang while presenting superb views of the Himalayan mountains. From Pisang, you will ascend to reach the Upper Pisang.

Day 06: Acclimatization
This is your acclimatization day. You will spend the day relaxing and exploring the village. It is a great time to interact with locals and see their crazy lifestyle away from modernization. Also, stunning views of Mt. Annapurna, Mt. Gangapurna, and Tilicho Peak will keep you accompany for the day.

Day 07: Upper Pisang to Pisang Peak Base Camp (4,380m/14,370ft): 4-5 hours
The trail today will take you to Pisang Peak Base Camp. You will ascend through a thin forest and grassland. Trekking on a flat easy path, you will eventually reach the base camp.

Day 08: Pisang Peak Base Camp to High Camp (5,400m/17,712ft): 3-4 hours
The trail ascends along the southwest ridge and takes you to the high camp. Upon reaching the High Camp, you will set the camp with your team. Today, your team leader will brief you on some basic mountaineering techniques that will help you in further climbing. He will teach you the proper use of ascender, harness, crampons, rope, ice-ax, climbing boots, etc.

Day 09: Summit Pisang Peak and back to base camp (6,091m/19,980ft): 8-9 hours
Today, you will wake up early in the morning and steam up yourself with hot tea and breakfast. After that, you will begin trekking on a rocky surface. The path then becomes steep and using 20 meters long a proper, you will ascend on a ridge. The guide will fix the rope whenever it requires. To reach the summit, you have to cross 70 degrees of the slope with the help of rope. Upon reaching the summit, you will be welcomed with a surreal view of nature. You will drop to the base camp for a night stay.

Day 10: Contingency
It is an extra day for any contingency. In case of bad weather, if you will not be able to reach the summit as per the itinerary then this can be used. If everything goes as per plan, then you can use this extra day in the city to explore around.
Day 11: Pisang Peak Base Camp to Manang Valley (3,450m/11,316ft): 5-6 hours
The trail descends to Pisang village. In Pisang, you will come across two routes that will take you to Manang. You will trek on the route that goes through Upper Pisang via Geru as this route offers outstanding views of Mt. Annapurna, Pisang Peak, and several other mountains. As you will approach Manang the climate begins to get cold and dry. You will also visit the Barge monastery, the biggest monastery in Manang District.

Day 12: Manang to Yak Kharka (4,110m/13,484ft): 3 - 4 hours
Crossing a stream, you will ascend to Tenki village. The trail then moves out of Marshyangdi Valley and turns northwest towards Jarsang Khola Valley. Trekking through pastures and scrub of juniper trees, you will ascend. From Ghunsa village, you will pass by meadows and cross a river on a small wooden bridge. Further, passing by the old mani wall, you will reach Yak Kharka.

Day 13: Yak kharka to Thorong Phedi: (4420m/14501ft): 3-4 hours
The trail today will mostly include an uphill walk to Thorong Phedi. You will cross a suspension bridge and reach Ledar village. Further, trekking through huge cliffs, you will reach Thorang Phedi from where you will get to see impressive views of Mt. Syagang, Thorung Peak, Mt. Gundang, and Mt. Khatungkan.

Day 14: Thorong Phedi to Thorong La (5416m/17764ft), continue trek to Muktinath (3,800/12,467ft): 9-10 hours
You will cross challenging Thorong La Pass today from east to west (Manang to Muktinath). It is the easiest and safest way to cross this pass. You will begin walking towards the pass early in the morning. Upon reaching the pass, you will see a gorgeous landscape view and descend to Muktinath. Muktinath is one of the most famous pilgrimage sites in the world located at the foot of Thorong La Pass.

Day 15: Muktinath to Jomsom (2,715m/8,910ft): 5-6 hours
Today, you will wake up early and visit the Muktinath Temple and other monasteries. After that, you will continue trekking towards Jomsom. Jomsom is one of the most beautiful places in Nepal. Here, you will visit the Ecological Museum, where you will get information about the flora, fauna, and native of this region.

Day 16: Fly from Jomsom to Pokhara: 25 minutes
An early morning scenic flight will take you back to Pokhara. Upon reaching Pokhara, you will move to the hotel. The rest of the day is free for you to explore around the Lakeside market. You will also do boating on the tranquil Fewa Lake and do shopping.

Day 17: Drive from Pokhara to Kathmandu: 6 hours
Today, you will drive to Kathmandu. You will be driving on the same route that you followed before. After reaching Kathmandu, you will get transferred to the hotel. Have your time for the rest of the day. In the evening, you will join the farewell dinner organized for you by the company.

Day 18: Final departure
As per yu flight scheduled time, one of our representatives will take you to Tribhuvan International Airport for your flight back to your next destination.
