Altitude Sickness and Prevention
Nar Phu Valley Trek is a high altitude trek that will take you above 5,000 meters inspan of 12 days. Every day you will gain elevation, and if the body is not properly acclimatized with the altitude before gaining more, there comes a chance of Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS). AMS is also known as altitude sickness then can occur to anyone regardless of their health, physical fitness, and age. The best thing you can do to avoid AMS is first to make sure there are enough rest days in between the trek and second drink enough water to keep yourself hydrated.

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu and Transfer to Hotel
You will arrive at the Tribhuvan International Airport where one of our representatives will welcome you. He will take you to the hotel and quickly inform you about the program. In the evening, you will explore Thamel and have a welcome dinner organized by the company.
Day 02: Drive to Besisahar; 7 hrs
After having breakfast, you will drive to Besisahar. The drive will be long, however, beautiful scener will accompany you throughout the drive. Upon reaching Besisahar, you will move to lodge and rest for the day.
Day 03: Drive to Koto (2610 m); 5 hrs
After a quick breakfast, you will drive to Koto. The drive will present you with lovely views of hills and villages. In the evening, you explore the village and end your day with a delicious dinner.
Day 04: Trek from Koto to Meta (3,560 m); 7 hrs
You will register your restricted area permit at the Police Check Post and begin trekking along the Soti Khola. The trail will go through a lush forest of pine. You will then cross streams and reach Dharmasala where you will have lunch. From here, you trek through forests and ascend on a steep trail to reach Meta village.
Day 05: Trek from Meta to Phu (4,080 m); 7 hrs
The trail will include ascend & descend. Crossing a suspension bridge, you will trek for around 4 hours and reach Kyang village where you will see ruined forts of the Khampa settlement. From here, you will pass by Phu Khola and reach Phu village for night stay.
Day 06: Acclimatisation day in Phu
Today is your rest day in Phu village. You will explore the village and get to experience the rich culture and ancient lifestyle of the locals. People like Lama, Ghale, and Gurung resides in this village. Further, you will visit Tashi Lakhang Monastery, one of the oldest Buddhist monastery.
Day 07: Trek from Phu to Nar Phedi, Overnight in the monastery (3,490 m); 6 hrs
After having breakfast, you will descend and cross many streams & suspension bridges. The trail will take you to Mahendra Pul where you will cross a high suspension bridge over the Gorge of Lapche River.
Day 08: Trek from Nar Phedi to Nar Village (4,110 m); 3 hrs
From Nar Phedi, you will climb on a steep trail passing by several stupas and reach Nar village. Here, you will get to visit several ancient monasteries.
Day 09: Trek from Nar Village to Ngawal (3,650 m) via Kang La Pass (5,240 m); 8 hrs
You will wake up early in the morning and begin to ascend on a rugged trail to Kang La Pass. Upon reaching the pass, you will get to witness excellent views of the snow-capped mountains. The trail then descends to Ngawal village where you will stay overnight.
Day 10: Trek from Ngawal to Pisang, Drive to Besisahar; 4 hrs
After having breakfast, you will descend to Pisang. From Pisang, you will drive to Besisahar for night stay.
Day 11: Drive back to Kathmandu
Today, you will drive back to Kathmandu. The route will be the same as before. Upon reaching Kathmandu, you will get freshen up and rest for a few hours. Later, in the evening, you will explore the vibrant streets of Thamel and have a delicious farewell dinner organized by the company.
Day 12: Final Departure
As per your flight departure time, one of our delegates will take you to the airport to take a flight back to the next destination.
