Lukla Airport

Namche Bazar

That means there are technical climbing, steep glacier path, rugged sections, and crevasses with numerous ascend & descends. On average, you have to walk for around 6 to 7 hours a day. Altitude Sickness and Prevention

There are chances of altitude sickness or Acute mountain sickness during EBC with Island Peak Climbing because of the high elevation you will gain while trekking. Altitude sickness is a common illness one can go through on high elevation journey. This can get extremely dangerous and life-risking if not handled carefully on time. With enough acclimatization day in between the trekking period and proper guidance, one can easily complete this trek without having any issues. Also, keep yourself hydrated. Drink enough water and other liquids during the trek to avoid altitude sickness.

During Everest Base Camp with Island Peak Climbing, you will stay overnight in lodge and guesthouse. The rooms are generally small and are on the twin-sharing term with a few furniture. You can find a comfortable bed and hot shower along with common bathrooms.

Food like Dal Bhat and Sherpa cuisine can be found everywhere along with momo, chowmein, thukpa, pizza, sandwich, bread, bars, tea, coffee, and other beverages.

Best Season to go on EBC with Island Peak Climbing

Spring (March to April) and Autumn (late September to November) is considered the most desirable time to go on EBC with Island Peak Climbing. This is the most desirable time of the year to travel in the Khumbu region as the scenes are clear and fabulous. Moreover, the weather is neither too cold nor too hot, perfect to move around.

Likewise, Monsoon (June to mid-September) is not a preferred time to go on climbing in the Everest region. The rainfall makes the views unclear and trail also become slippery.

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu via respective airlines

Upon your arrival at Nepal airport, you will be welcomed by one of our team members. He will introduce himself and take you to the hotel in a private car/van. You can relax for the remaining day. Later, in the late evening, you will join the welcome dinner organized by the company, and end your day strolling around Thamel.

Day 02: Fly to Lukla (2,820 m) and walk to Phakding (2,640 m); 4 hrs

A short and scenic flight will take you the Lukla airport from where you will begin trekking. The trail from Lukla descend through the lush forests and further, goes along the Dudh Koshi River. You will reach Phakding where you will get to see the superb view of Kusum Kanguru Peak.

Day 03: Trek to Namche Bazaar (3,440 m); 5 hrs

Leaving Phakding behind, you will gradually climb towards Namche Bazar. Today, the trail will be going to be tough as it includes steep climbing. A short walk will take you to Monjo. From here, you will trek through Sagarmatha National Park. The trail will include several ascend & descends through dense forests, crossing several streams and rivers. Passing by small settlement areas, you will reach Jorsale where you will cross a suspension bridge over the Dudh Koshi River and climb to Namche Bazar.

Day 04: Rest day at Namche for acclimatization and local hike

It is your rest day to acclimate your body with the altitude. You will spend this day exploring around. In the morning, you will go on a short excursion to Syangboche Airstrip or Everest View Hotel to observe excellent views of Himalayan mountains like Mt. Everest, Mt. Ama Dablam, Mt. Thamserku, Kongde Ri, etc. After the short tour, you will come back to Namche Bazar, and visit the Everest Photo Gallery and Sherpa Culture Museum.

Day 05: Trek to Thyangboche Monastery (3,867 m); 5 hrs

From Namche Bazar, you will begin trekking through lush forests of rhododendron and pine trees along with enjoying beautiful views of Mt. Everest, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Thamserku, Mt. Ama Dablam, Mt. Nuptse, etc. Soon trail descends to Imjatse River near Phunki Tenga. You will then slowly ascend through dense forest and reach Thyangboche Monastery for night stay. You will get to see amazing views of the Himalayas from here. You will visit the monastery where you will get blessed by Lamas for a successful trip.

Day 06: Trek to Pheriche (4,240 m); 5 hrs

The trail descends to the forest of rhododendron, pine, and birch. Further, you will ascend and reach Pangboche village. From here onwards, you will notice a change in vegetation from the tall tree line to short bushes. Crossing a bridge, you will climb and reach Pheriche for night stay. You will get to see the view of snow-capped mountains throughout the trail.

Day 07: Trek to Lobuche (4,930 m); 5 hrs

You will begin trekking towards a beautiful valley and reach Thugla. The trail then ascends to terminal debris of Khumbu Glacier and take you to the foot of Mt. Lobuche where Lobuche village is located.

Day 08: Trek to Everest Base Camp (5,364 m) and return to Gorakshep (5,180 m); 6 hrs

The trail will lead you to the base of the world's highest mountain, Mt. Everest. It is going to be a long yet adventurous day. After a quick breakfast, you will ascend and reach Gorakshep. From here, the trail goes along the Khumbu glacier moraines and take you the EBC. Upon reaching the base camp, you will see excellent views of the Khumbu Icefall, Mt. Everest, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Kongde, Mt. Thamserku, Mt. Nuptse, Mt. Pumori, Island Peak, Mt. Cho Oyu, and numerous other mountains. After spending some time at the Everest Base Camp, you will trek back to Gorak Shep.

Day 09: Hike to Kalapathar (5,545 m) trek to Chhukung (4,730 m) via Dingboche (4,360 m); 6 hrs

You will wake up early in the morning to go on short excursions to the Kala Patthar viewpoint early in the morning to see a sumptuous sunrise. Also, from Kala Patthar, you can see a 360-degree view of Mt. Everest and its surrounding mountains. After soaking beautiful views, you will descend to Chhukung via Dingboche.

Day 10: Trek to Island Peak Base Camp (4,970 m); 4 hrs

After having a warm breakfast, you will begin ascending towards Island Peak Base Camp. The trail will be covered with snow and offer you stunning views of snow capped mountains all around you. The trail to base camp will not be that difficult.

Day 11: Trek Island Peak High Camp (5,400 m); 4 hrs

You will wake up early in the morning and begin trekking after having a quick breakfast. You will ascend and shortly reach the high camp. Walking southeast over a moraine, you will climb through an open gully in between two ridges. Soon, you will reach the Island Peak High Camp situated below a hanging glacier.

Day 12: Climb to the Summit of Island Peak; 6 hrs

Today, the day begins super early in the morning. You will gradually move upwards through open gully following a snow-covered glacier. Make sure to be careful of crevasses on the way as you will find plenty of that. The trail then moves north over a snowy path that goes between glaciers. Crossing a gully, you will begin ascending on a steep snow-covered slope that will take you to the summit of Island Peak. From the summit, you will get to witness breath-taking view. After spending some time at the summit, you will drop down to base camp for night stay.

Day 13: Reserve and contingency days in case of bad weather

You will have an extra day for contingency. In case of bad weather or any other emergency, this day has been added. If everything goes well, you can spend this day on way back to Lukla or in Kathmandu.

Day 14: Trek to Pangboche (3,985 m); 6 hrs

After having breakfast, you will begin descending on a slightly tough path. The trail will take you to Pangboche where you will stop to spend the night.

Day 15: Trek to Namche Bazaar (3,440 m); 6 hrs

From Pangboche, you will descend and reach Tengboche village. Here, you will visit the Tengboche monastery. After that, you will trek through small villages and beautiful rhododendron forests to reach Namche Bazar.

Day 16: Trek to Lukla; 4 hrs

Retracing the same path as before, you will drop down to Phakding village. From here, you will ascend through dense forest and reach Lukla for night stay. Today, you will enjoy the successful completion of the journey with your team.

Day 17: Fly back to Kathmandu and transfer to your hotel

An early morning flight will take you back to Kathmandu. Upon reaching Kathmandu, you will be moved to the hotel. Rest of the day is free for you to traverse the nearby market and do shopping. Later, in the late evening, you will have a farewell dinner organized by the company.

Day 18: Free day in Kathmandu with an optional sightseeing tour

You can use this day for guided sightseeing of the monuments like Pashupatinath Temple, Boudhnath Stupa, Swayambhunath, Kathmandu Durbar Square, or just relax and do shopping.

Day 19: Transfer to International Airport for flight homeward bound

As per your flight departure time, you will get moved to the airport by one of our team representatives. He will drop you at the international airport terminal gate and bid you our last goodbye & good wishes.
