Day 1: Arrival in Paro – Thimphu; 1 hr

Fly from Kathmandu to Paro International Airport where you will be welcomed by one of our representatives. He will take you to Thimphu on a private bus/car. Upon aching Thimphu, you will move to the hotel and rest for a few hours. In the late afternoon, you will visit the fortress of the Glorious Religion. Built-in 1641 AD, this fortress was later renovated in 1965 by King Jigme Dorji Wangchuk. This is where the King of Bhutan, his majesty lives. On the other side of the river, you will see a modern building where the National Assembly Hall is situated.

Day 2: Thimphu sightseeing

This day is set apart so that you can enjoy all the wonders of Thimphu. Located on the west bank of Thimphu Chhu, Thimphu is a beautiful wooded valley. The city is old and peaceful. It is the only capital in a world where there are no traffic lights as this place never gets traffic jams. You can buy things like basketwork, weaves in wool, silk & cotton, thangkas, silver jewelry, and other traditional crafts.

After having breakfast, you will visit Memorial Chorten built in the memory of the third king. You will then visit Buddha's point from where you can see an aerial view of Thimphu city. From here, you will head to the National Library and Painting School. Both of these places are preserving ancient manuscripts and traditional art. If you want to buy Bhutanese textiles and other crafts, you can visit Handicrafts Emporium.

There are more places to visit. After having lunch, you will explore Handmade Paper Mill, Changangkha monastery, and if the possible Weekend market (happens on Sunday).

Day 3: Thimphu to Punakha; 2 ½ hrs

You will drive to Punakha, which used to be the capital of Bhutan until 1955. This place is the winter seat of the chief abbot. The temperate climate and the rich fertile valley are supplied by Pho Chu and Mo chu river. On the way to Punakha, you will cross Dochula Pass from where you will see wonderful views of the Himalayan mountains. You will see Druk Wangyal Chortens, which adds more beauty to the pass. Altogether 180 stupas were built here by eldest Queen Ashi Dorji Wangmo Wangchuk.

After reaching Punakha, you will get refreshed and visit Punakha Dzong built by Shabdrung in 1637. This dzong is located at the junction of two rivers Pho Chu and Mo Chu. You will then visit Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten built by her Majesty the Queen Ashi Tshering Yangdon Wangchuk. It is one of the splendid works that shows impressive Bhutanese architecture.

Day 4: Thimphu to Paro

After having breakfast, you will drive to Paro following the same route. Upon reaching Paro, you will move to the hotel. You can visit nearby market on your own as the evening is free for you.

Day 5: Sightseeing in Paro

You will wake up early in the morning hike to Taktsang (Tiger's nest monastery), one of the most important monuments of Bhutan. This monastery hangs off the cliff 900 meters above the valley floor. As per the legend, Guru Rinpoche flew on a mythical tigress and meditated in a cave in Bhutan before bringing Buddhism here. After that, you will have a short lunch break and continue walking through the oldest wooden bridge. You will have a free evening to enjoy your time in Paro. Later, you will enjoy a farewell dinner organized by the company.

Day 6: Departure

Today, you will fly back to Kathmandu or to your home. You will be transferred to Paro International Airport our tour guide. He will bid you our last goodbye to you and good wishes to you.
